Stars In Their Eyes - May 5th 2005
When the Roman Quay throws an event like this you just know that it will be a scream. The original line up of ten acts was reduced to six on the night as unsurprisingly a few acts bottled it. The evening was hosted by none other than our very own Fat Deeley, a legend in the entertainment, tight frocks and G-string industry.
The acts that did make the night were; the Spice Girls, Scissor Sisters, Kylie, Alanis Morissette, Noddy Holder, and Green Day. Fat Deeley also contributed with Queen of the Road, an adaptation of King of the Road written by Steve Elvey and the (annoying) song of the year, Amarillo.
A special mention should be made of the judges, who had the difficult job of marking each act on sound-a-like, look-a-like, and entertainment value.
As Fat Deeley mentioned, all the acts on the night were winners for their fantastic performances, third place went to the Spice Girls, second place to Kylie, and first place went to the Scissor Sisters. The first place prize of 40 (yes forty!) pints of beer went to Martin (aka Susan) for his brilliant performance.
A special award also went to Alanis Morissette, who, despite being outside of the top three, clearly won the sound-a-like category with both the judges and audience alike, a bottle of smirnoff vodka should put a smile on her face!
Live at the Roman Quay on Thursday 5th May 2005 from 7:30pm
